Just the Tip – January 7, 2020 (Indiana WBB vs Penn State)

We ended our last edition of “Just the Tip” with an abysmal 1-1 record bringing the program to a 1-2 -1.1 units record on the season. Toledo covered +3 relatively easily despite a monstrous performance from Kent State’s Danny Pippen who scored 34 points while hauling in 16 rebounds. Rutgers Team Total Over 73.5 never had a chance against Michigan State. Rutgers looked like a completely different team away from home and put up their worst scoring performance of the year against the Spartans. Rutgers pretty much did nothing well, they missed free throws and never could capitalize on Michigan State’s mistakes. For a point of reference, Michigan State had more turnovers than made field goals for the vast majority of this game. It was one of the worst performances I’ve watched from a team this year and sucked a lot of excitement out of me that I had for Steve Pikiell and co. I’ll let Paulie Walnuts do the talking for me so the boys in New Jersey know I feel about them…

Onto the picks…

Today I’m keyed in on Indiana Women’s Basketball -11.5 versus Penn State. This is likely a bovada special since most books aren’t hosting NCAA Women’s Basketball lines. Indiana is one of the best teams in the Big Ten. However, they have struggled to beat the truly elite programs like Maryland in the Big Ten. Indiana is coming off a 84-80 loss to PopOffBaby.com certified bad bitch Brenda Freese and the Maryland Terrapins. Maryland started the game on a 10-0 run and despite a push in the second half Indiana spent most of the game playing from behind and couldn’t knock off the Terapins. Fortunately for Indiana bettors whenever Indiana has played an inferior Big Ten opponent they have destroyed them as you can see below:

Indiana has the number 2 defense in the conference holding opponents to 56.8 points per game which I think will be the major difference in this game. Penn State is a team that likes to play very fast and score a lot of points. The problem is they’re not a very good offensive team. Penn State is the 7th best offense in the conference scoring 78.7 points per game. I think that even with key players like Jaelynn Penn and Nicole Cardaño-Hillary injured, Indiana’s defense will carry them to an easy victory. Teri Moren has a very complete team in Bloomington and I expect them to roll on this team after a disappointing loss to Maryland.

Lock it in.

Today’s Pick: Indiana WBB -11.5 risking 1.15 Units to win 1 Unit

Last Picks: 1/5 Rutgers TT Over 73.5 risking 1 Unit to win 1 Unit and Toledo +3 risking 1.1 Units to win 1 Unit

Just the Tip’s 2021 Record ATS: 1-2-0 -1.1 Units
