Today, we learned that Bria Holmes, in a shocking turn of events, has grown two inches over the off-season to 6 foot 3. Bria Holmes and myself are both 26. I’m praying I can get the same kind of luck. I’d pay top tollar to add a couple of inches onto my frame.
Outside of Bria’s growth spurt, this lineup is the lineup that intrigues me the most going into this season. With the addition of DeWanna Bonner I initially thought the Sun would be title favorites. Since then a lot has changed with many people counting out the Sun after Jonquel Jones opted out of the season due to concerns around COVID-19. This will be Brionna Jones’s first big shot at playing time in the WNBA and as a Sun fan I really hope she’s ready. The added length on the wings with the addition of Holmes’s newfound height and DeWanna Bonner will be much needed with the absence of Jones down low. I still think the Sun will contend but they’re going to need a lot out of their new additions and it doesn’t help when Briann January and Natasha Hiedeman both test positive for COVID-19.
On the bright side, despite some early set backs, the Sun have emerged with the newfound star of the WNBA bubble in Bria Holmes’s daughter Baby Dee.
