Indiana State Women’s Basketball Head Coach Joey Wells Resigns
On Tuesday morning it was announced that Indiana State Head Women’s Basketball coach Joey Wells had resigned.
The University released a statement saying “After meeting with him this morning Joey Wells has submitted his resignation as head women’s basketball coach,” said the school’s athletics director, Sherard Clinkscales. “The team’s competitive performance over the past three years and specifically its performance over the last year and half have not shown the progress that either Coach Wells or I had hoped.”
The Indiana State Sycamores are currently 2-11 on the year. Wells had a record of 44-59 during his three plus seasons at ISU.
You have to feel for Sycamore fans as this was the second abrupt departure from a coach after former Head Coach Teri Moren left Indiana State to become the head coach at Indiana University. Hopefully the next coach will stick and be able to turn Terre Haute into their self-appointed nickname of Terredise.
